didnt go online for.. well sometime.
yes.. longest day on thursday. i had fun but yet i didnt. ironic isnt it. longest day is supposed to be the most fun, the most exhilarating day you had in school. not just because u had fun the day itself, but because of all the memories conjured and the hard realisation that this is the last.. the really last time you go crazy and bond and sing retarded campfire songs in mgs.
i was totally prepared to have fun. to a certain extent i can say i had heaps of fun.. but there was this nagging cold and tense atmosphere in my class it really dimmed my spirits more than i would like to say.
it really scares me that my ten years in mg is coming to a close. i was jst thinking today (ok well technically its saturday but assuming its still friday) about all the times i've spent in mg. from primary1 where i puked on this first day of school and how elated i was to find out alina and judy were in mgs too. and the first friend i made (besides alina and judy) who was griselda who offered me candy. on the first day of primary one!
and all the times after that.. progressing through primary school.. meeting all the people that changed my life. well of course there were the hard times too. the backstabbing, the bitching, the loss of friends. there were also all the crazy embarrassing times (which inevitably happen when you're younger .. yes).
and going on to secondary school. how i really believed things were gonna change as i moved on. had the time of my life in 1B2.. went on to 2I and had another unbelievable time. and of course as sec3 and 4 came, people changed, i changed and my perspective on people and life changed as well. which, sad to say, took a little spark out of my life. but sec3 and 4 have been my biggest growing periods where i've learnt so much, matured my point of view.
and not forgetting squash which has played such a huge part in my mgs life. i'll never forget the team, the inspiration, the love, the hate, the sweat and all the feelings i cant fully describe. it scares me that i have almost left this team. that in a matter of weeks (well actually im out already.. but TECHNICALLY im still in) mg squash is going to be tangibly out of my life.
i admit that mgs has changed alot. changed in more ways than one. theres the system and the rules that have built up resentment and hate, but more importantly, the people. the students, the teachers, the soul of mgs.
i know some rules are completely unnecessary and superfluous, but havent you wondered why some rules that are formed totally affect the students?
because the mgs spirit is fading. the mgs temperament, the mgs attitude is fading.
its because mgs is not what it used to be and when harsher measures are implemented to take such a degradation at hand, the students hate it and they claim they hate mgs.
but when i really think about it.. i dont think the rules are that bad. are we so inflexible that we cannot adapt to such a change?
i hate the way students run mgs down. i hate it when people say they cant wait to get out. i think its selfish. mgs does have its shortcomings, just like any other school. but i think all the strengths and weaknesses of mgs make who i am. at the same time who we are makes the school.
so does it help if we run the school down? arent we tearing the school down when we verbally ruin it? sometimes i think it would really help if we took a more positive attitude towards mgs. to build the school up once again.
do we profess we hate mgs when we play for the school? whatever sport, cca we're in, do we hate the school when we play? so why should we run it down when we're not in play but support it when we play? we despise other schools, we wanna beat them flat when we compete. but outside our sport, we verbally degrade the school.
i will always remember the passion and the heat of supporting mgs. whenever i think i'm on the verge of claiming it sucks.. i always remember what it feels like to have the mgs spirit overwhelm me when i play. when i see my team together. and of course when i remember all my friends.. some of the teachers.. the flag.. the sack-like (but very comfy) uniform.
i cant fully express what i feel because mgs is such a great part of my life. it has created so many faces in me. i know this entry is long and disorganised and plenty of people arent going to be happy.. but
in my heart mgs will always be the best school in all history.
