blogger has screwed up my dates.
it was meant to say Sunday 8 May, not Saturday 7 May so yes, MOTHERS DAY IS TODAY.

quite a good sunday although i've been lapsing in and out of happyhigh and the doldrums within the last 4 hours.
one moment, i'm feeling very happy and sane and the next i suddenly feel melancholy and this process repeats itself on an average of half-hours lasting a couple of minutes each time.

must be the lack of sleep.

last night i came home really late, showered, and stayed up to fold paperhearts for my mother.
sister: (very seriously) mummy, when i come back and have found a job, i'll pay you rent for staying at home ok?
mother: okay, that would be about $800 inclusive of meals.
sister: oh.. okay.
mother: oh, and plus my pocket money. $500? in total that would be $1300.
sister: huh? that doesn't leave me with much money for myself! err.. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY JOKE MUMMY!

and i've been consumed my econs lately.
everything i link to econs.
i'm not even aware of it, it just pops into my mind straight away!
like today.

mother: you know, NTUC vegetables are so much cheaper than those you get in the wet market!
me: (automatically) economies of scale.

mother to my father: can't you tell she (my aunt) has been spending more? because she has a payrise!
me: higher marginal propensity to consume.

and i wasn't even feeling gleeful and proud for remembering it, it just came out of my mouth!
so after that, i was feeling half horrified and half proud of myself.

and i think i've reached the point where shallow thoughts seem to make me feel much better.
i used to enjoy thinking hard and sorting through chunks and chunks of tangled thoughts and opinions.
but now, they make me feel sick.
and tired.
and heavy.

you know, listening to chicago always makes me feel better, even though sometimes their lyrics are plain heartbreaking.
it affects me in a different way.
when i listened to rainbowconnection all over again that day, thinking it'd cheer me up, i just felt like shit.
so i listened to chicago, thinking it would make me feel like shit, but it made me feel all better.
anyway, that was just a very random thought.

and my parents will be gone in 19 days.
i am feeling very very unhappy about it :(

joan: eyy, you never update your blog anymore! i'll mail you soon k? tell me when ur coming back!
to the blank on my tag: i got it from the states.
